Climate change is affecting our economy and national security. Within a few years, climate change, if unaddressed, will produce a magnitude of refugees and resource shortages like we have never seen. It will continue to create a crisis that we cannot run away from.

Countless businesses, nonprofits and local governments are already working independently to address and reverse the impacts of climate change. Although these efforts are admirable, they do not go far enough. Our nation must take the lead and we all must work together.

Several analysts blamed our delayed recovery of the economic crisis due to the uncertainty of the market. They claim that businesses and individuals are hesitant to act because they are unable to anticipate what new policies will pass and remain. Meanwhile, advancements in information technology, renewable energy and energy efficiency has given rise to the emerging front of smart grid technology, autonomous vehicles and expanded consumer choices that enable greater economic mobilityand affordable, cleaner transportation and energy options.

When America leads, others will follow and climate change is a front we ought to lead. We need our next president to be someone who can implement strong climate change policy so that it provides certainty in the market, motivates innovation, stimulates our economy and reverses climate change.

Bernie Sanders is the only presidential candidate who has named climate change as one of his top three issues to address once elected. Bernie has countless years of economic, environmental and foreign policy experience from local to national level. He understands that our economy is reliant upon the environment and that the key to a promising future for generations to come begins with accepting and acting upon this notion. Consider Bernie Sanders for president.
