Every honest study of the role of guns in our modern society clearly shows that guns are a very grave danger to the populace. The second amendment was written in a different era with vastly different social circumstances than those we face today. I believe that the framers of the constitution would be appalled to see how this amendment has been perverted by gun rights lobbies. They had no intention of foisting such foolishness on us.

My children and grandchildren should not live in fear of random persons having the ability to kill or maim them at will. We should not be selling guns via the the gun show loophole nor allowing the sale of military type weapons to just anyone.

If we believe that guns are such a deterrent to crime why do virtually all U.S. police departments disagree?

It seems like the only practical way to fix this national catastrophe is to repeal the second amendment.
