Governor Rauner was elected because the majority of Illinois voters wanted someone to straighten out our state’s fiscal mess. Now that Speaker Madigan refuses to even discuss the pension situation, much less consider doing anything about it, the Governor has suggested cuts in social services and many are outraged. Instead of being upset, how about urging Speaker Madigan to address the real problem or offering some other solutions. I’ll bet Rauner would even be willing to raise the income tax level a bit if the Democrats were willing to allow some significant spending reductions, which is the only way we’ll ever solve this fiscal problem.
