Seniors seek cost of living raise: Again this year, the seniors are not getting a cost of living raise while everything is going through the roof. This will be the third year in a row during President Obama’s term that seniors have not gotten a raise. How do you explain that illegal immigrants get free medical care and free food while citizens don’t get anything? What’s $12 a month? I want to know why Obama took $700 million out of Social Security to boost Obamacare. This was money that seniors put in for their retirement, and he took it out. What a terrible thing. Make him give that money back, and maybe then there won’t be a danger of Social Security inadequacy.

Eager for Elgin weather reports: I would like to know why Elgin is rarely mentioned on the nightly television weather reports on Chicago stations like NBC and ABC. This leads many listeners to switch to other stations for their news reports.

Collecting cans: Today was my garbage day. As I’m leaving, I see all these guys in yellow vests going up and down the streets taking aluminum cans from recycle bins. I refuse to put my cans in there because I don’t want to give my money away to someone else. As I go around the corner, they are loading up their dump truck. This truck is heaping full of cans. Overflowing. There’s probably $250 worth of cans. I wonder how much money it’s costing our garbage company since they are not getting it. Someone else is getting it for free. Tax-free dollars.

Defending Davis: To the caller who criticized Kim Davis because she wanted to keep her $80,000 a year job, I say we have protection in our Constitution that nobody should be forced to do anything against their religion or conscience. She had her job years before the decision for same sex marriage. There’s nothing evil about a Christian wanting to keep a good paying job, and shame on you for judging how good a Christian she is. Worry about your eternity, not hers. I think she’ll be fine.

Hold the line on taxes: Congratulations. There are some smart people in our government. School District U46 board members Phil Costello, Cody Holt and Jeannette Ward are trying to hold the line. The school taxes are getting way out of line. The city is always there to give out money to manufacturers and raise our taxes. It’s about time they lower the taxes. Cut some of the money to the schools. They get plenty of money, and some of it goes to banquets and all that kind of foolishness.

Get serious about Syrians: I’m reading Speak Out, and I totally agree with the Syrian situation comment. This is what I’ve been saying since I first learned that the United States was going to take in all these Syrians.

Stress importance of local elections: I would like to give kudos to the Speak Out caller who said Americans don’t vote enough. We vote when it comes to the big elections like for the presidency, but it’s not big government that’s killing us. It’s not the federal government. It’s our local government that’s shoving it to us. Until we get out to vote for our local government, we will keep getting shafted. Look into what’s going on out here instead of looking at the president. Our local government has all the power over us, and our local government has us in a stranglehold. Wake up.

Seek nominees who make sense: If I were to vote for a Republican nominee for president right now, it would be for either Dr. Ben Carson or Donald Trump. Those two guys make more sense than the rest of them. Donald Trump tells it like it is. I hope he wins. We needs someone with guts, and he has them. We need someone who is sure of himself and doesn’t back down.

Riled about Rose: One day after announcing that he has to start looking out for his child because he hasn’t made quite enough millions yet, Derrick “Glass” Rose is out again with another surgery. This guy is the epitome of what a joke athletes have become. He is the biggest joke of them all, or the biggest thief of them all, or the smartest one of them all. Can’t quite figure it out.

Doubts about Davis: Kim Davis is a hypocrite, and now it has been proven. She misled everyone into believing that she had a private meeting with the pope when it was a group meeting with the pope. She’s doing this for her self-gratification. If she was a woman of God, she wouldn’t have said what she said. She would have told the truth. This leads me to believe that the pope didn’t say what she said he said. She gives Christians a bad name. She is just out for fame and money now. Look out, here she comes.

Unnecessary stop signs: There is no reason for the two stop signs at the corner of Deerpath and Deerpath Circle on the far west side. The residents there can get onto Deerpath easily. I was stopped by the police for not coming to a complete stop. He admitted to me that the stop signs were unnecessary.

Show respect for police: Now that the federal government has given 109 tips to the St. Louis County Police on how to act, I think the next step is training people of that county on how to act when stopped by police. Maybe the whole United States might have to put out bulletins on how to respond when they are stopped by the police. Common sense tells me you are not pulled over for nothing.

Fowl sense: I would like to say I agree with the person who says they don’t want chickens in their backyard in the city. What I don’t agree with is that a person is uneducated because they have chickens. They are just not exercising common sense.

Disagreement about pope: So the pope visited the United States, and the crowds chased him and went crazy. He’s called the Holy Father, and he doesn’t stop them from saying it. Really? My Bible says call nobody father. There is only one father, and he’s in heaven. The pope is just like the rest of us earthly beings. Read the Bible, and take no man’s views to heart. There’s only one without sin, and that’s Jesus Christ.

Take care of mentally ill: Another mentally ill person with a gun killed innocent people. Our government needs to bring back housing for these sick people. With proper housing, they would have a bed to sleep in that’s not under a bridge, nutritious food and medication for their illnesses which would hopefully stabilize their emotions, diseases and drug addictions. The way it is now, the government thinks it is their constitutional right to have their freedom, but they are taking away freedom from innocent people. The safety of all Americans needs to be addressed and protected. I can’t see where it would cost any more money to put sick people in a safe place away from the general public. It’s gotten to the point where you are no longer safe in a public place, in your home or on the street. Our society needs to change for a better way.
