In what way has the scouting department changed under Ryan Pace? — @drholingue
For starters, Pace has an entirely new set of top advisors. Josh Lucas came with him from New Orleans to serve as the director of player personnel. Lucas worked for 10 years in New Orleans and the Saints attempted to keep him by offering a promotion to be their director of college scouting. He was a college scout covering the south and southwest while with the Saints. Joe Douglas was hired from the Ravens as the college scouting director.
He spent 15 seasons in Baltimore and was a national scout the final three years. Champ Kelly was hired as the director of pro personnel and he worked in Denver the previous eight seasons, the last five in the same role he currently holds. Pace also added some scouts at other levels on the pro and college side and shuffled some assignments for existing scouts. Many of the scouts from the previous regime remain in place but the leadership has been completely changed.
