Days shy of his 27th birthday, Lamarr Battle was shot in the head on a snowy sidewalk in the 6200 block of South Rockwell Street, less than a block from his home, on Nov. 21, 2015. “He didn’t mess with nobody,” said Tony Whiteside, who manages the facility for men with mental disabilities where Battle lived. “Just walking and asking for change.”
