SOUTH FLORIDA INSHORE: Capt. Brian Sanders of Davie said his anglers caught 40-50 redfish, 15 of them slot-sized fish, the rest too small, using live shrimp suspended under floats around river mouths south of Chokoloskee Island in Everglades National Park earlier this week. They also caught a couple of black drum, some sheepshead, sea trout and a handful of small snook.

SOUTH FLORIDA OFFSHORE: Friday is the best day to fish with winds forecast to be 5-10 knots, then the winds is supposed to blow hard Saturday and Sunday before calming somewhat on Monday. Look for sailfish and dolphin, along with some kingfish, to be biting along color changes and edges in 100-250 feet.

EVERGLADES/FRESHWATER: Bass fishing has been tough in Everglades canals because of high water levels, but flipping vegetation was producing some quality fish. The Lake Ida chain of lakes has been good for peacock and largemouth bass using jerkbaits and flipping.

LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Anglers have been catching several dozen bass per trip using live shiners, swimbaits and stick worms around the outside grass lines along the south end of the lake. When the wind picks up, move into the grass to fish the cleaner water.

THE KEYS: The Sea King party boat in Marathon reported catches of yellowtail snappers up to 6 pounds and a handful of mutton snappers.
