Respected institutions such as Wheaton College have special responsibility to look for commonalities among religions rather than trying to divulge differences. Pope Francis, a holy figure in Christianity, stated that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. And that is what Wheaton College professor Larycia Hawkins said also. Why the double standard?

I for one, as a Muslim, worship the same God Wheaton College President Philip G. Ryken worships. Perhaps Ryken needs to learn more about Islam and rewrite the curriculum that is being taught at Wheaton College. I hope that will work as an impetus to more understanding between followers of Christianity and Islam.

I urge Wheaton College to reinstate Hawkins.
