Two people were shot dead in Gary on Saturday, Gary police said.

A male visitor had been let into a residence in the 2200 block of East 19th Place, where he shot the owner of the home, according to a news release from Gary police. Another visitor in the residence then shot that shooter.

Police found the two dead inside at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Police are not identifying the individuals who were killed.

The shooting likely was not a random incident, according to Gary Police spokeswoman Lt. Dawn Westerfield.
