Antioch

Show: Lake County Gun and Sportsman Show will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at Antioch VFW, 75 North Ave. There will be guns, knives, ammo and more. Buy, sell, trade or get an appraisal. Also there will be a youth gun giveaway of a Henry H001 .22. Admission is $7 and free for children ages 12 and under with paying adult. Get $2 off admission with a nonperishable food donation. Party: New Year’s Eve Family Party will be from 4 to 6:30p.m. Dec. 31 at the Sullivan Community Center, 635 Aspen Drive. There will be a DJ spinning favorite tunes from 2015, plus pizza and an ice cream sundae bar. The gym will be open for play. Waukegan

Plunge/fundraiser: The annual Polar Bear Plunge will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 1 at Waukegan Municipal Beach, 201 Sea Horse Drive. Aqua shoes or other foot wear is required. Food and other refreshments will be available for sale. Plungers can pre-register for $15 until 4 p.m. Dec. 30. Day-of-registration costs $20 and begins at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the Plunge go to the Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County, Waukegan scholarship program. This program helps individuals with disabilities participate in camps, athletics, health and fitness programs and more that they would otherwise be unable to access or afford.
