A vehicle driven by a Sugar Grove man in Aurora early Saturday morning was shot at, Aurora police said.

The man told police that he was driving with three passengers along an access road near a strip mall in the 1300 block of North Orchard Road around 1:20 a.m. when he heard a loud bang, and felt something strike the vehicle.

According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli, the 20-year-old Sugar Grove driver and his passengers initially believed a rock may have gotten up underneath the vehicle and caused the noise.

That opinion changed when the driver reached his destination and got out to find a bullet hole in one of the quarter panels of the vehicle, police said.

The driver reported that just before the shooting occurred, he and his friends were at a convenience store in the 2400 block of West Sullivan Road. When they left the store, they believe they were followed by a male driver in a dark gray Ford Taurus who was driving behind them when they heard the bang. There was also a female passenger inside the Taurus, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
