Happy birthday
Jan. 14: Paul Long
A few thoughts
*At the Crown Point Community School Corp.’s reorganization meeting, Scott Angel was once again voted in as president with David Warne as vice president and Tom Hoffman as secretary.
*Welcome to all the newly elected as well as returning representatives of the people. This includes members of town and city councils as well as clerk/treasurers, judges and mayors. Nothing like January as a time to start a new job for the people. There is no learning curve either. You need to be ready your first day. No pressure there. Some of you were smart enough to attend your community’s meetings starting when you first decided to run.
*Candidates are already lining up for the May primary election. Constituents, if you get the chance, write or talk to those candidates and ask them why. Why do they want that office? What are they going to do for you, your family or your community? As someone who votes, you are in charge. Let each candidate know what you want and what you need. Then get out and vote.
I know there are people who don’t want to vote in the primary because you have to declare your party. This isn’t the olden days. Unless you are running in a party primary, it doesn’t matter what party you declare. You can change your party in the next primary. It never shows whom you will vote for in the general election. Go to local meetings, in your municipality or in the county, to see what is going on. Every vote counts.
*This is Indiana’s Bicentennial Year. What are you planning to do to celebrate? Please let me know. It is party time. Let’s see how well Hoosiers can party.
