A garage fire in a Plainfield home Wednesday morning caused the roof to collapse and continues to smolder, officials said Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters with the Plainfield Fire Protection District responded at 10:18 a.m to the home at Normantown Road and Route 30, officials said, with backup departments called about 10:21 a.m.

The home was left uninhabitable, officials said, and the cause is under investigation.

Firefighters with Bolingbrook, Bristol-Kendall, Lockport, Naperville and Oswego fire departments and districts responded, officials said.
