Am I missing something? If the city of Chicago is short the necessary funding to support its schools, why can’t it do what every other community in the state of Illinois does when faced with a similar problem: Raise its property taxes. Maybe it’s because Chicago elected officials don’t want to be blamed for more of their own muck-ups. It is easier for them to go to Springfield with their crocodile tears and ask the rest of Illinois taxpayers to subsidize their lunacy. Well it has worked for decades, the only difference is you have a Republican governor interested in protecting all the residents of Illinois, not just the Chicago hacks. Refreshing.
