SOUTH FLORIDA OFFSHORE: Despite the rotten weather, Capt. Skip Dana said the dolphin bite was good all week and a few sailfish were caught. Anglers on the Helen S and Fish City Pride drift boats had decent fishing for snappers and caught a few cobias. Capt. Chris Lemieux said water conditions off Boynton Beach Inlet were nasty because of all the freshwater runoff going out the inlet, but if it clears up, sailfish should be biting this weekend, especially after a cold front moves through Friday. Seas will be fairly calm over the weekend.

THE KEYS: Look for sailfish and snappers to be biting on the reefs this weekend. The Sea King party boat in Marathon reported good catches of yellowtail snappers.

SOUTH FLORIDA INSHORE: Spanish mackerel were biting in Florida Bay. Snook, redfish, sea trout and sheepshead were biting in the backcountry of Everglades National Park.

EVERGLADES/FRESHWATER: Capt. Alan Zaremba of Hollywood reported that the cold, rainy weather and lots of moving water made for some difficult fishing conditions for largemouth and peacock bass this week. The best bet with nice weekend weather in the forecast would be to fish lakes because the water flow won’t be as bad as in canals.

LAKE OKEECHOBEE: With much improved weather for the weekend, anglers should find bass biting back in the grass. Try flipping creature baits around reeds or work stick worms and swimbaits around holes in the grass.
