Reef meeting: Our Florida Reefs has a meeting from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Delray Beach City Library, 100 W. Atlantic Ave. The meeting will present options for protecting local reefs, including no-fishing zones and not allowing scuba divers to spearfish. Additional meetings are Feb. 16 in Fort Lauderdale, Feb. 17 in Coral Gables and Feb. 18 in North Miami. Visit ourfloridareefs.org/events.

Salt Water seminar: The Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series visits the Florida Keys from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 30 at Coral Shores High School in Tavernier. The seminar features offshore, inshore and backcountry fishing tips, techniques and tactics for everything from tarpon to tuna from a panel of experts. Bass tournament: The third annual Channing Crowder’s Bass Fishing Tournament is Jan. 30 out of Everglades Holiday Park. Entry fee is $250 per two-angler team and first places pays $10,000 with a full field. The weigh-in and a party featuring food and live and silent auctions are at Ron Bergeron’s Green Glades Ranch in Weston. Youth fishing: The Broward County Parks and Recreation Division’s 18th annual Jr. Bass Trail for ages 12-17 starts Feb. 28, with the first of four tournaments at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek. Tournaments also will be held at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach.
