It does not matter which Republican is nominated. And it does not matter which Democrat is nominated. No matter what they say, once elected, no candidate will be able to do nearly anything of what he/she said she/he wanted to do. Any one senator can block any legislation as a point of privilege or start a filibuster. Many have done so in the past couple of years.
Does anyone really believe that the acrimony now in Congress will change once a new president is elected — regardless of the party?
The only reason to vote for the nominee of your choice is the Supreme Court nominations, which are likely in the next four years. Even then, the new president’s choice(s) may easily be blocked. With the potential of need to nominate two or perhaps three new Supreme Court justices in the next four years, I predict that the U.S will have less than nine justices on the Supreme Court for some years in the future. How sad!
