
Explore Day planned at Rosary High School
Seventh-grade girls are invited to Rosary High School in Aurora for an Explore Day March 10 or April 20 to experience what the high school is all about.
The events are from 8:15 to 10:30 a.m. and will feature speakers and demonstrations on spirituality, leadership, science, athletics, music, extracurriculars and more.

Seventh-graders or eighth-graders who have not yet decided where to attend high school are also welcome to set up a Shadow Day at Rosary to experience a school day with a current student.
Rosary High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school for young women located at 901 N. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora.
Coloring for adults in Plano
Plano Community Library will hold a coloring class for adults.
The event will run from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Feb. 29 at the library, 15 W. North St. in Plano.
Coloring pages designed especially for adults as well as colored pencils will be provided. No registration is required.
Kane County Cougars announce Ballpark Concert Series lineup
Kane County Cougars are counting down to the 2016 season.
Single game tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday. Fans can order tickets in person from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, 34W002 Cherry Lane, Geneva, by phone at 630-232-8811 or online at kccougars.com.
Opening night is April 7. The Cougars play against Clinton.
The Cougars are hosting its Ballpark Concert Series with pregame concerts at the team’s new permanent music pavilion in the ballpark. Among the bands scheduled to perform are Too White Crew, a tribute to ’80s and ’90s hip hop with live music from a six piece band; Mr. Myers Band, performing on Jimmy Buffet Night; and Big Band Boom, an 18-piece modern jazz ensemble playing during Military Appreciation Night. Summer camps offered
Summer camps, whether 90-minute nature sessions for preschoolers, half-day adventures for first- though sixth-graders or twilight programs, are available for early-bird rates until April 15 through the Kane County Forest Preserve District.
At “Little Sprouts Camp,” preschoolers explore nature through stories, games and short explorations into the nearby woods. District naturalists will lead the search for butterflies, wildflowers, trees and more. “Little Sprouts Camp” is offered from 9 to 10:30 a.m. June 13-17 and the same hours June 20-24. Early-bird registration is $85 per child, per weekly session. Regular registration is $110 per child. The camp takes place at Creek Bend Nature Center, located within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve at 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles.
“Week in the Woods Camps” is for those entering first through sixth grade. There are four weekly sessions. Campers will be divided into two age groups — those entering grades 1-3, and those entering grades 4-6. Early-bird registration is $100 per child, per session. Regular registration is $125 per child, per session.
“Week in the Woods” dates and themes include: STEM in Nature will uncover the marvels of the natural world by studying the architecture of a bird’s nest, the symmetry of a beehive and much more. The camps are offered from 9 a.m. to noon June 27-July 1 at Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve, 41W600 Hughes Road, Elburn, and 9 a.m. to noon July 18-22 at Burnidge Forest Preserve, 14N035 Coombs Road, Elgin.
Life Outdoors helps campers develop practical skills for outdoor recreation including shelter building, campfire safety and knot tying. These camps are offered from 9 a.m. to noon July 11-15 at Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve and from 9 a.m. to noon July 25-29 at Burnidge Forest Preserve.
“Twilight Camp” for children entering grades 3-6 offers exploration of the woods and fields during dusk. This camp is offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8-12. Activities include naturalist-guided evening hikes through the woods, games and nature projects. The week culminates with a family campfire, complete with treats, storytelling, a night hike and stargazing. Early-bird registration is $85 per child, then $110 per child. This camp is held at Creek Bend Nature Center in St. Charles.
