Surprised to read that Reavis High School District 220 and Burbank District 111 are asking Burbank residents to pass two tax referendums. Should the referendums pass, your property tax will increase every year for years. On top of the referendum increase, property owners will take another tax hike hit when the two school boards pass their annual tax levy each and every December. Look at your tax bill and follow the money. We plan to vote no.

Since our U.S. senators flatly refuse to vote on, or even consider proposals form President Obama, they should all be fired. They each are being paid $188,000 a year plus medical and dental and pension for life for doing nothing. That is just absurd. What a fine example for the citizens of America. Send them home immediately and elect senators who will do their job. I can think of hundreds of people who would love to have their jobs.

I have an idea, since no one is satisfied because there is no diversity in the Oscar . Just stop all of these award shows. Why are all entertainers such ego-maniacs? As a nurse, I am not chosen from nurses all over the world to receive a statue. Neither are millions of other workers. Why single out actors, singers, writers, directors, etc who are just doing their jobs?

I remember in college, students majoring in elementary education while I majored in business. I thought those students were wasting their time. How the heck can you make any real money teaching little kids. Academically, the demands for the two majors were polar opposites. Well, after entering the business world and getting released five time for various non-chargeable reasons, I feel like the fool. Yes, I got some 401k match money, but that sum doesn’t come close to throwing off the kind of money those elementary education teachers receive via bountiful pensions. Doh.

The state is no longer mailing notices for license plate renewal or emission testing .They could save even more money by not mailing the fine notices.

Tinley Park has an ordinance prohibiting blocking residential sidewalks when parking on a driveway. But it is not being enforced, endangering people who have to walk around, sometimes into the street. Why is it not enforced?

Once again our gutless president is failing to protect us from terrorists. If Bush/Cheney were still in power, they would already be waterboarding Apple executives to make them get the ISIS terrorists’ information off those cell phones.

What’s up with the DMV? I go in there with $101 cash money, they give me a sticker? Who came up with this scam and how come nobody’s protesting this rip-off?

So now that Illinois has no budget in place since July, the effects are starting to show with non-payments to schools and agencies that the state helps support. I hope the state has enough money to start paying unemployment compensation to all of the hard-working people that are being laid off because of the lack of funding by the state.

Chicago Public Schools should declare bankruptcy and start over. They should hire teachers who actually care about their students. Only about half of the students in Chicago actually graduate from high school. And of the few who do graduate, most of them are deplorably unprepared for college. If this were private industry, everyone would be fired. But the city pays billions a year for a system with horrible results for nearly half of the students. Waste of time and money. The teachers only work 180 days a year and when they retire they get an average pension of over $50,000 a year. What’s wrong with this picture?
