Space Mountain was the first roller coaster at Walt Disney World. It was one of the few early attractions that came to Disney World before Disneyland. There are currently five space-themed indoor coasters at Disney Parks around the world. The original Space Mountain was a descendant of the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland, which opened in 1959.
