With so many holes on both sides of the ball, will the Bears look to get an offensive lineman or wide receiver in the draft? — @boss_hawg98
With a current inventory of nine draft picks, I would be pretty surprised if the Bears do not draft an offensive lineman. In fact, I think as a general rule it’s a pretty good idea to invest in a lineman each year knowing that you’re not going to hit on all of them. The Bears have a particular need at guard as they head toward free agency. Even if they sign a player to plug in at right guard, it will be a veteran and given Matt Slauson’s veteran status at left guard, adding a younger guard to the mix would make a lot of sense, especially if they see one in the middle rounds that has some traits and perhaps the flexibility to play center or slide outside in a pinch. But you can’t create a player that isn’t there and they need to remain true to the board. Also, if there is a very talented offensive tackle when they pick No. 11, you’d have to at least consider it if he had a higher grade than the defensive players available. As far as wide receiver, that doesn’t look like a top need to me. I’d look closely at what is a weak tight end class. If the Bears see a wide receiver with traits in the later rounds, why not? The Saints did a pretty nice job of finding wide receivers when general manager Ryan Pace was there. Offensive line is a greater need in my opinion.
