One recent contributor said that former Gov. Rod Blagojevich should be released from prison because he didn’t commit a crime. That contributor must live under a rock, because she’s obviously not in touch with reality. Wire fraud, extortion and conspiracy are all crimes in this country. It’s also a crime to make false statements to the authorities, too. It’s too bad that being stupid isn’t a crime. If it was, then our jails would be even more overcrowded.

I saw something funny today in Oak Forest. I saw “Re-elect Bobby Rush” signs, yet I never actually see Bobby Rush in the area. Why should I vote for someone who has absolutely no interest in my community?

About salmonella poisoning: I worked in a meat factory. They found human excrement in food they were preparing. People were working with it. I’ve seen it at grocery stores and restaurants. Guys go to the washroom, don’t wash their hands and roll sushi or eat it. I wonder where this disease is coming from. I don’t remember the last time I saw a health sign or inspector. They’re trying to save too much money and putting people at risk. The people in control look the other way. They’re afraid of losing business. How about losing people’s lives? Maybe the inspector is best to have. They watch you like a hawk. Nowadays, they don’t care. I wouldn’t know who to call.

This is to all you politicians in Illinois. All you do is raise taxes, taxes, taxes. There’s never enough ever. The state is bankrupt. The country’s bankrupt. The City of Chicago’s bankrupt. Everybody’s bankrupt. The government is bankrupt. The U.S. national debt is at more than $19 trillion. It’s about time we cut politicians’ salaries at least 45 percent. Put that money back in the kitty.

In reply to Ken from Manhattan, I’m sorry you’re so disillusioned that former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney did such a wonderful job. Did you ever see them find the weapons of mass destruction? Those two clowns couldn’t do anything. Not that President Obama’s perfect, but the only thing those two would have done is gotten in another war, sent more people to war and killed more of our people. That would be all we would need — a typical Republican reaction.

When I voted absentee by mail, I was in for a big surprise. You now have to sign the envelope and put down the number of years that you have lived in the home from which you are voting. The problem is this is on the outside back of the envelope and, I believe, is a setup for further identity fraud. Anyone, especially with an iPhone, who comes across these envelopes and has malice in thought can make a fast copy and use your signature for further wrongdoing. Somebody ought to wake up. It used to be covered by a flap. Now it’s on the back of the envelope.

I would have to agree with Ned L. McCray from Tinley Park in his letter to the editor. Barack Obama will go down in history, but he’ll go down in history as the first biracial president and the most divisive, narcissistic, power-hungry, hypocritical disaster of a president. The November election for a new president can’t come fast enough.

Was there a driving law change I missed? Today while driving home, within a five-mile stretch I witnessed three separate drivers turning left on a red light. I know you can turn right on red after a stop, but really, on three different streets all turned left on red. Just because there is a break in traffic you do not turn left on red.

With the way the world is today, why oh why does Kirby School District 140 have the kids in school when voting is taking place. They vote in open hallways with no way to stop anyone. Security, cops and custodians to block people sounds great, but why even have this scenario.

Fred, Tinley Park

I was appalled to see on the news that President Obama was participating in a “freestyle rap” session in the Rose Garden of the White House. He has time for that, yet he couldn’t attend Nancy Reagan’s funeral last week. I am beyond appalled, actually. I’m disgusted. Our commander-in-chief has no class, no decorum and little respect for the duties that come with the office.
