You wonder about those who think President Obama should have interrupted his goodwill visits to Cuba and Argentina just because a few terrorists decide to blow up bombs in Brussels. Terrible as those attacks were, as was the one in Paris not long ago, if the president were to come home or, as some have suggested, rush to Brussels to show moral support, it would tell terrorists they can adjust and control our president’s agenda any time they want. When further attacks happen, as they will in this crazy world and likely with greater frequency, our president, whoever that may be, would never get anything done. The United States is a great and powerful country that should under no circumstances allow anyone to interrupt or influence our nation’s business. The only attention terrorists deserve is to be caught quickly and punished severely.

The terrorist attack in Brussels further reinforces the need to control our borders. The feckless position that we are a blindly welcoming “melting pot” country went out the window with the introduction of radicalized terrorism. The open arms of Lady Liberty have to be closed because some who cross our borders are bent on her and our destruction. “When good people in any country cease their vigilance and struggle, then evil men prevail.” Pearl S. I am not a Sox fan, and I have never cared for Ken Williams. But, I am all for Williams’ decision against having kids in the locker room. On special occasions it would be fine, but not every day. Whatever the player thinks, it is not normal to do this. The kid should be in school, but I understand the player is against schools. Let him and his $13 million go.

Kudos to Burbank for finally tearing down some of the unsightly homes and businesses. It is nice to see new businesses open and taking care of their property. It is always nice to see remodeling being done around town. Now we need some of our homeowners to take pride in their homes by doing a little cleaning, painting and cleanup behind their garages, houses and sheds. Cleaning up after your animals is not a small task unless done frequently.

Certainly a lot can happen between now and Election Day in November, but is it possible that both political parties are putting up the worst possible candidates? For example, in numerous polls Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders beats Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and others handily. In those same polls, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton beats only Trump, but loses to Cruz and others. Yet, the Republicans have strongly resented Donald Trump as the nominee and Democrats are resoundingly behind Hillary. What is wrong with this picture?

Your right to free speech does not give you the right to deny me my right to free speech. In other words, your mob of protesters does not have the right to stop me from entering an arena to listen, or my right to have and voice my own opinions which may differ from yours.

I am almost 60 years old, and I have heard a lot of newly elected state’s attorneys give speeches before. They usually say that they will go after drug dealers, street gangs, child molesters and organized crime. But all I heard Kim Fox say that she will go after is our police officers, the men and woman that protect good, law-abiding citizens from the criminals. Maybe that is all that they showed on the news, but something seems wrong here.

Some readers have bad-mouthed Donald Trump, even going so far as to call him a “big-mouthed billionaire bully.” Those who are opposed to him are mostly “sheeple” who are used to being led around by the nose and being told what they want to hear, rather than what they need to hear. What makes Donald Trump so popular is the fact that he isn’t “politically correct” and he says what most of us feel. Those who are against Donald Trump are a big part of the reason why this once great country is in serious trouble. We need someone like Donald Trump to get us back on the road to prosperity. The rest are just in it for the money.
