A 19-year-old man died less than two days after he was shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, authorities said Thursday.

Davion Spivey, of the 7300 block of South Artesian Avenue, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 2:47 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which released the information Thursday afternoon.

The man was driving about 7:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of South California Avenue Monday when someone fired shots and hit him in the head, then ran off, police said at the time. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

The man ended up in the 5800 block of South Artesian Avenue, where the car he was driving came to rest, and police later said the shooting may have taken place in the 5700 block of South Artesian Avenue. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, initially in critical condition.

No one was in custody in the killing, according to police.
