A masked woman wanted for multiple bank robberies in Indiana robbed a bank in Oak Lawn Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The woman entered the TCF Bank, 9801 S. Cicero Ave., around 10:40 a.m. and demanded money, Oak Lawn Police Chief Michael Murray said.
She did not display a weapon nor infer that she had a weapon, Murray said.
Bank employees handed the woman an undisclosed amount of money and she fled the bank on foot, he said. She was last seen heading eastbound on 98th Street, witnesses told police.
The bank closed temporarily following the theft, but reopened later in the day.
The woman was white and was described as thin, about 5 feet tall, and dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black gloves, a black mask and sunglasses and carrying a black purse, he said.
The FBI’s Chicago field office is investigating the case. An FBI spokesman confirmed that the female perpetrator is wanted for multiple bank jobs in Indiana, but couldn’t immediately provide details on those incidents.
