Evanston Public Library officials are looking to spread word about the library’s 2016 summer reading program in a big way.
Some 7,000 copies of a 39-page brochure of the program, written in English and Spanish, were distributed through the District 65 schools on Tuesday, Library director Karen Danczak Lyons said at the Wednesday library board meeting.
“We’re also going to be distributing to the pre-schools and private schools,” she said.
Also, this year, “it’s not just for children,” Lyons said.
Summer programs for adults include TED Talk screenings, author readings, and movie and music presentations.
Registration can be done online or at any of the city’s libraries. There’s also a digital version on line that can be downloaded at epl.org.
The program runs from June 1 through July 31. The kickoff event is scheduled from 11 a.m., to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 11 at the Robert Crown Community Center, 1701 Main St.
Once again, participants in the program can read books, play games, attend library events and earn prizes.
A giant game of Candy Land, an instrument petting zoo, tech workshops for teens, Friday flicks for teens are some of the activities on tap.
