Illinois received an oral commitment from Rockford Auburn offensive lineman Vederian Lowe.
Lowe is rated 15th in the state’s Class of 2017 composite rankings on 247Sports.com. The 6-foot-5, 336-pound lineman is coach Lovie Smith’s first commitment from a non-skill position player.
All four players to commit to Illinois since Smith’s hire have been in-state talent. Smith, a defensive specialist, has yet to receive a commitment from a defensive player.
