An upcoming Robin Williams documentary will explore the comedian’s North Shore upbringing, famous movie roles and “battle with inner demons,” the Reelz network announced this week.

Producers of “Robin Williams: Behind Closed Doors” conducted interviews in the Lake Forest area and shot some b-roll on the North Shore, a Reelz spokesman said. Williams spent some of his early years in Lake Bluff and Lake Forest before his family moved to suburban Detroit.

The two-hour documentary, hosted by NBC’s Natalie Morales, is set to premiere 8 p.m. Aug. 28. Producers promise a look at some of Williams’ “troubling times” as well as his career highlights through interviews with the late director Garry Marshall, who co-created “Mork and Mindy,” “Aladdin” co-star Scott Weinger and comedian Margaret Cho, among others.

The documentary comes two years after Williams died by suicide at the age of 63. His daughter Zelda paid tribute to him on Instagram on Thursday, which would have been his 65th birthday.

“Still not really sure what to do on days like today… I know I can’t give you a present anymore, but I guess that means I’ll just have to keep giving them in your name instead,” Zelda Williams wrote as a caption to a picture of her father with her and her siblings. “This year, I tried to help three causes you cared about in one; rescue dogs, people suffering from disabilities, and our nation’s wounded veterans, so I donated to freedomservicedogs.org.”
