Two men and a teenage boy are charged with robbery after an incident Friday afternoon on Aurora’s East Side that police say appears to have been gang-motivated.
A 24-year-old Aurora man told police he was attacked, beaten and robbed by a group of acquaintances at about 12:15 p.m. Friday inside a home in the 100 block of North Trask Street, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email.
The man told police he went to the home to hang out with one of the men in the group but when he arrived, several other men were also there and the group began to beat him, Ferrelli said.
One person took an undisclosed amount of money from the 24-year-old during the beating, according to police.
The man then broke free and ran outside to his car, Ferrelli said.
So far, robbery charges have been filed against Jamarcus Reynolds, 19, of the 2000 block of Fox Pointe Drive; Adrian Alcala, 21, of the 800 block of Grove Street; and a 15-year-old Aurora boy who was taken to the youth home, according to police.
More charges against others are possible as the investigation continues, Ferrelli said.
Reynolds pleaded guilty in November 2015 to possession of a firearm by a gang member and was sentenced to 24 months probation, Kane County records show. He has also been found guilty in Kane County of misdemeanor marijuana possession, records show.
When the robbery occurred, Alcala was already in the early stages of a Kane County trail for June domestic battery charges.
Alcala pleaded guilty in March 2015 to possession of a knife with intent and sentenced to 30 hours of public service, Kane County records show.
Alcala is also scheduled to appear in DuPage County circuit court Aug. 22 on 2015 possession of a controlled substance charges out of Glendale Heights, records show. He is also scheduled to appear there in December for retail theft charges.
