I see that Drew Peterson is fighting to keep his $79,000 per year pension. That seems so absurd in so many ways. First of all, how could he paid a pension while he’s in jail for killing his wife? How would anybody be entitled to a pension while in jail? How on Earth could he be getting such a high pension? He is only 62 years old and he has been fighting this case for over 10 years. Why are we paying such high pensions? No wonder our state is broke. Is every state employee getting these high pensions. I worked for over 50 years and I never even made that amount while working.

Alsip Trustee John Ryan is right. Why should the taxpayers of Alsip have to pay the $120,000 settlement due to Mayor Kitching’s sexual harassment of a village employee? Let’s say the mayor was involved in an accident while on city business. Then it would make sense that the village would be responsible for his legal representation and a possible settlement. Sexual harassment has nothing to do with city business. The mayor should be paying for the settlement out of his own pocket.

If Trump was serious about getting the much needed black vote this election, he should have picked Oprah Winfrey as his running mate.

More than anything, I loathe the fact that the United States gives billions of dollars to foreign countries that hate us. Meanwhile, our own country crumbles. Our infrastructure is in desperate need of repair. A good 50,000 bridges need structural repairs. Some are so bad that they need to be entirely replaced. We have a ton of bad roads, buildings with old lead pipes and other structures that are death traps. Medical costs are expensive, college is expensive and houses are barely affordable. It sickens me that this country willingly shells out billions to other countries, meanwhile the needs of American citizens are routinely neglected. What about us?
I don’t know if you have noticed, but more than a few television commercials single out a population segment and portray them as buffoons, fools and imbeciles. It happens so often you have to suspect that there is a organized motive for the portrayals. I for one do not appreciate how this segment of the population is mocked. I make it a point to make the advertisers and the networks aware that this daily denigration on the airwaves should stop. So far my efforts have seemingly been ignored. Hopefully, more will make their indignation known.

Do Tinley Park officials and staff believe conducting a survey and hiring a high priced consultant to give us a “brand” will fix the layers of problems plaguing the village? It would be a lot cheaper to step back, look around and start with the basics that give a town its aesthetic appeal. Hiring someone, no matter how high his price tag, will not magically fix it. It will require a sincere effort and tremendous amount of work by local government and its employees, residents and property owners.

I agree with Joe from Alsip as far as the ridiculous/obscene amounts of money that (so-called) pro athletes are paid. But also consider this, who babies them like helpless children? The owners. If fans really want to see ticket prices/concessions/parking to become affordable again, skip a few games if not an entire season and see what’s offered to you next season.

President Barack Obama claims Donald Trump is unfit to be president. Really? Isn’t that comparable to the pot calling the kettle black? At least Mr Trump has built something constructively and represents the complete opposite of everything wrong in Washington now as an outsider. The only thing that Obama has built is the largest total deficit of over $19 trillion, more than all the other presidents combined and, oh yeah, he’ll leave this country in a total mess when he leaves office, thank God, in January 2017. The liberal media makes me want to puke, with their bias for the bona fide liar, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
