The speechwriter for President Reagan, a lifelong staunch Republican, spoke at the Democratic convention telling people not to vote for Trump because he is unstable and a danger to America. He said sometimes we have to put America above party loyalty. That should tell you everything you need to know this November.

I’ve sent enough Quicklys that you could fill a days paper with them. Most demeaned Trump so that wouldn’t make his supporters very happy. But from what I’ve seen of them, they’re not a very happy bunch to begin with.

I agree with the writer who doesn’t want his tax money going to private charter schools. Tax money is for public schools which are in dire straits now as so much of their funding is being diverted to private schools and in states like Indiana there’s nothing we can do about it.

If you think banning guns will prevent violence, you live in a fantasy world. Criminals will always get guns illegally. The second amendment says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Stay away from my guns.

I don’t think I need a gun to protect myself from the government. The second amendment exists expressly to give me the right to defend my nation from all threats, foreign and domestic, including the government.

Just look at the difference between how Hillary Clinton responded to four days of Republicans calling for her imprisonment and, in one instance, even her death, and how Donald Trump has responded to criticism from the parents of a heroic American soldier. Which one is the grown up, which the petulant and whiny child?

I have to say without a doubt the city of Portage is the most unfriendliest city in America.

The religious right likes to rant about how the United States is a Christian nation. No Christian nation would ever consider electing a person like Donald Trump as president.

I get very depressed when I see my choices for a presidential candidate. How did we ever get into this mess? The greatest country on earth and look at our pitiful choice for our next president? Now the vice president candidate for both parties — that is a different story. It looks like we have a cool dude as vice president choice from both parties.

It’s interesting that in all of Donald Trump’s casinos, (as far as we know) there were no fences to keep Mexicans out.

Booing the mother of a member of the armed services? That’s about all you need to know about the kind of people who show up at a Pence rally.

Why can’t people just be satisfied that Donald Trump wants to make America great again and skip all of the other malarkey? Sure he is not a tactful speaker, but the man gets things done and he is on a mission to create great jobs for all Americans willing to work for a living.

If you walk at Fairgrounds Park in Valparaiso be aware that there are several big trees with dead limbs that can fall without notice.

You say Gov. Pence has been a solid governor for the people of Indiana? Certainly not for the LGBT tax paying community. His discrimination of them has been loud and clear. When you govern, it’s supposed to be for all the people.

Republican nominee Donald Trump “warns” that the Presidential election may be rigged. Beware. He’s setting himself up to blame others if he loses. He seems blind to his own self destruction.

Republican leaders keep saying that the things Donald Trump is saying “do not represent the feelings of the Republican party.” Well, they picked him as their candidate in a landslide, and they refuse to denounce him, so it’s utterly ridiculous for them to say he does not represent them. He does.

How can anyone who has been in the Army or Marines vote for Trump when Trump attacks a Gold Star family?
