Boating safety: U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 34 has an eight-hour safe boating class Aug. 13 at Imperial Point Hospital, 6401 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. The course encompasses seamanship, equipment and legal requirements, emergencies and navigation rules. Cost is $50 and there are discounts for multiple family members. Free Fishing: Sept. 3 is a license-free saltwater fishing day in Florida, which means residents and visitors can fish without a state-required saltwater fishing license.

Snakehead tournament: JD’s Custom Baits has its final Snakehead Round-Up from safe light to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 out of Veterans Memorial Park, 7044 NW First St., Margate.
