The commenter complaining about Gov. Mike Pence taking money from campaign funds then said that former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich did the same thing. Blagojevich did not do the same thing. Blagojevich never took any money. Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, misappropriated campaign funds and they got less punishment than Blagojevich did on federal corruption charges. Blagojevich should be out of prison and the Jacksons should be put in. They misappropriated $750,000. Blagojevich never took anything.
God never makes a mistake. He never does anything wrong, but sometimes I wonder if he thinks or wishes that he never created mankind. Look at some of the comments in Quickly. I’m not sure which is more damaging and an insane idea to our country: the pet rock or selfies. If you have one or do the other, you’re really in the same exploitative category of ignorance..
To the commenter who thinks tariffs on foreign steel is a bad idea: I say this, my friend: You go ahead if you love China so much and move there. I’ll even buy your plane ticket.
Although I don’t attend church regularly, I practice the ways of Jesus Christ in the way I live my life. We are not a godless society. What we are is a society that is morally bankrupt at the top. Sometimes the folks who profess their Christianity the loudest are the ones who are the most heinous in their disregard of Christ.
I joined the church in Portage because I felt that to be part of the body of the church and Christ that I should join and make myself known that I’m going to be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. In most churches around here and at the one I go to, they say, “Preach, preacher, preach.” But when they’re asked to do something for a fellow person in the worship, nobody shows up. Nobody wants to help a person that’s disabled. Actually they’ll pass the plate, but they play on their little computer in their hands or those little games because I hear them beeping. People sit there and only want to hear what they want to hear.
Do you remember that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his holdings are from Wall Street?
I’d like to say something to pet owners. If you don’t have insurance on your pet, it would be a good thing to get. We have a dog that’s crippled in the rear right leg and the cost of the surgery is prohibitive. We can’t afford to pay it but if I had insurance, I could have fixed my dog up. So, if you love your pet a lot, it’d be good to get health insurance on them.
I just want to make a comment about the TV series “The Jim Gaffigan Show.” I think it is one of the most disgusting shows that they’ve got on television and I can’t believe they’re putting it on for another season. I think he’s the only one that thinks he is funny.
I saw a young man on television say he didn’t think that the young people today should have to pay Federal Insurance Contributions Act taxes out of their paychecks for the seniors on Social Security now. Who does he think paid taxes while they worked so he could go to grade school and high school? I never had kids but I still had to pay taxes to support everybody else’s kids. We paid for our Social Security. It wasn’t our fault the government stole money from that fund. It’s not our fault that the government chooses to pay our money to immigrants who are here illegally and people who never paid into the fund.
