In 2014, Gary native Kendall Svengalis visited his hometown and came upon an old diploma for Edith Victoria Carlson, a 1931 Emerson High School graduate who never received her diploma. After 85 years of sitting in the school’s attic, the diploma finally got to its rightful owner.
