A West Side man has been charged with fleeing police and leaving the scene of a crash after he and a passenger tried to get away when officers tried to stop them on Wednesday, police said Thursday.
Markeise Williams, 22, is charged with felony aggravated fleeing and misdemeanor leaving the scene and driving on a suspended license, according to police.
Williams was the driver of a car that was pursued by police starting at Sacramento Boulevard and Harrison Street about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday and ending in a crash at Western Avenue and Harrison.
Williams was arrested after a foot pursuit, but the passenger was able to escape.
Williams is on parole in a 2014 felony drug case for which he was sentenced to 3 years in prison and was released in June 2015.
Williams, of the 3100 block of West Lexington Street, was expected to appear in Cook County Central Bond Court for a hearing on Friday.
