“The Late Show” was prepared for either World Series outcome Wednesday night.

Opening with a disclaimer “‘The Late Show’ taped earlier, so we don’t know who won the World Series. For that reason, we have two messages. Please enjoy the one that is most applicable,” Stephen Colbert first congratulated Cleveland.

“You played great ball, your city should be proud,” he said. “This is the kind of triumphant win that makes us briefly forget your mascot.”

Colbert also congratulated the goat (yes, a live goat) next to him for placing such a powerful curse on the Cubs.

“We stand in awe of your black magic. All hail evil goat!” He joked.

Then came the Cubs.

Colbert, an alumnus of Second City and Northwestern University as well as a longtime Cubs fan who lived near Wrigley Field, shouted into the camera as the audience erupted in cheer.

“Way to go Cubbies, you did it!” Colbert exclaimed. “108 years and the curse is broken!”

Yes, yes it is.
