Satellite imagery late Friday evening showed the nearest rain-bearing clouds over New Mexico, about 1,200 miles from Chicago. High pressure over the Midwest will continue to dominate our weather through Sunday, bringing light winds and unusually sunny skies.

Little or no cloud cover is expected at a time of the year when dreary conditions are the norm. Through the opening four days of November, the city has logged 86 percent of possible sunshine. Completely sunny days are rare in November, which is climatologically our second cloudiest month.

In response to increased sunshine, daytime temperatures will run well above normal, topping out about 70 degrees, at a time when low 50s are typical. Clouds are due to arrive about Tuesday, when a cold front passes. This front is expected to be weak by November standards as temperatures stay above normal.
