A motorist was shot Friday afternoon on the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side, according to state police.
A man was driving eastbound on the Eisenhower about 12:30 p.m. when, as he tried to exit at the Western Avenue ramp in the Lawndale neighborhood, someone inside a black car shot him in the lower back and fled the scene, said Illinois State Police Trooper James Gawel.
The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, but his injures are not considered life threatening, according to Gawel.
As of 4:15 p.m. traffic on the inbound Eisenhower is being diverted off at Independence as troopers search for shell casings.
No arrests have been made.
