An 8-year-old boy was flown by Flight for Life to an area hospital after he fell out of a third-story apartment window in North Chicago Friday morning, police say.

According to North Chicago police Sgt. Fred Diez, dispatchers received a 911 call from a third party around 11:30 a.m. for a child injured, and police and paramedics arrived at the same time and found the boy on the ground in the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue.

He said the child fell out of the window of his third-floor residence and was flown by a Flight for Life helicopter from a nearby field to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for a medical evaluation.

“The child was able to talk and was conscious,” Diez said, adding that officers were “still talking to people” about the incident on Friday afternoon..
