The Lake County coroner’s office has identified a 57-year-old man found shot to death Saturday morning at an abandoned Gary house as Lydell McLaurin.
The coroner’s office responded to the 500 block of West 39th Avenue for a report of a man laying in debris between an abandoned house and its garage, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield, and declared the man dead at the scene.
McLaurin’s death has been ruled a homicide, according to a release from the coroner.
His address is unknown, the release states.
