It’s sad what’s happening in the Middle East with Syria and Iraq. I don’t know how they’re going to solve that problem, but it was refreshing to see Muslim people from Syria who were just ordinary people. We’re all connected. Whether you’re Greek, Irish, Syrian or whatever, we’re children of God. We should look out for each other and take care of the good ones. We should check people out thoroughly, but I see nothing wrong with having Syrian and Mexican people in this country if they can bring good things and love this country as an American citizen. I don’t think anybody should be turned away. That’s not our culture. America should stand strong on those types of issues.
Does that $7 million tax break for Carrier come from Indiana taxpayers and right out of our public education funds? Do we now have to give everyone threatening to send jobs out of the country the same kind of deal? Have we started something here? Was this not a state issue?
Mike Pence wanted to leave a memorable parting shot to the folks of Northwest Indiana. He named a GOP insider for a vacant Hammond city judge. Too bad this judge has never practiced law. The important thing is that she was a big money donor.
It would be nice if they could operate on Cutler’s shoulder and personality at the same time. Both need to be attended to.
If people are so disenfranchised with the doggone politicians and the way they do things, maybe it’s time people put term limits on politicians. All they know how to do is give you wheel taxes and beverage taxes and “you name it” taxes. Maybe it’s about time we get a new breed in there that might do the work of the people. Let’s vote these politicians out and start term limits for all of them. There’s no reason for career politicians anywhere. The U.S. president only does two terms.
I hate the idea that my tax money is being used to bribe one company to stay in Indiana and not move to Mexico. Indiana’s infrastructure is falling apart, and our money is used to make Trump and Pence look good. It’s very frustrating.
I read in Consumer Reports the only employees in this country that still have a pension plan are most likely members of a union. How about the rest of Americans? Maybe Trump will work to increase union membership to assure pensions to all workers. That would be a step toward making America great again.
Kris Kobach, the Kansas Secretary of State and likely Trump appointee as Director of Homeland Security, is one of those spreading the lie that probably 3 million people voted illegally in this election. Would you feel safe with this guy in charge of national security?
Hey, Donald Trump: From all of the taxpayers of this state, we are not impressed with new increase you just saddled us with, just so that you could have a nice photo op and say, “I told you so.”
Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife are both in jail and are asking Obama to pardon them. They claim this is the right thing to do, but I think they mean the right thing for them.
Whenever I commiserate with people with whom I went to high school, I am always reminded why I never liked them.
Now that the details of the Trump/Pence Carrier deal begin to leak out, we see that Carrier is in effect getting a $7 million reward for shipping “only” 1,000 jobs to Mexico. And we don’t even yet know the scope of the rewards Carrier’s parent company, United Technologies, will be getting from the Department of Defense. More likely billions than millions. Get used to the smell.
