This donating thing is getting out of hand. Now, they are calling at 7:30 a.m. I called the U.S. Postal Service to see what I can do. The post office said nothing can be done. In one week I got 25 requests for donations. I never heard of some of these organizations. They come from different states, not even just Illinois. If they didn’t send you all these address labels, cards and so forth, they could use that money that they spend for that cause. I get anywhere from 15 to 25 requests a week.

When my father landed in England during World War II for the D-Day invasion of France bombs and V-2 rockets were coming in and destroying houses. He told me the most exhilarating thing was a giant American flag blowing in the breeze. These are men who fought and died for the freedom we enjoy now. Shame on the multimillion-dollar football players who disrespect the flag and what it represents by not standing up for the National Anthem at games. The soldiers are true heroes, not the football players.

There are 20 million people receiving health insurance under Obamacare. RC from Oak Lawn’s right that Aetna and UnitedHealth Group are out of the program at the end of 2016. This didn’t have to happen but the U.S. Congress refused to tweak the problematic parts. They wanted Obamacare to fail. Yet, they never came up with their own plan. As for President Barack Obama being a waste of a president because he’s always in a foreign country, the president’s job is to interact with foreign countries. Also, per RC, Obama’s always giving American money to foreign countries. Give me a break. Sending aid to allies has always been U.S. policy. Would Congress just let Obama give American money to foreign countries?

The younger generation is always criticized for having sports heroes but the older generation had sports heroes, too, like baseball players the late Babe Ruth, the late first baseman Lou Gehrig, the late pitcher Cy Young and the late outfielder Ty Cobb. So this has been going on forever. It’s not a new phenomena.

Millennials and boomers have minimal savings, record high credit card balances, and earnings that have not kept up with inflation, yet new home construction seems to think otherwise. When were we convinced that homes with at least the same number of baths as bedrooms and at least 3,000 square feet were a must? Who is buying these homes and how are they doing it? I want to meet these remarkable people who apparently can perform financial magic.

To the person who stated, “We the people” doesn’t mean anything anymore in this country: In January, 2017, a long awaited and new regime will be in power that will make the words “We the people” meaningful again. Embrace and appreciate that.
