What’s up: Syrian rebels reached a cease-fire deal to evacuate from eastern Aleppo while Russia declared all military action had stopped with the Syrian government assuming control.
Why you care: The conflict in Syria has been raging for all of 2016, with reports of mass killings and heavy fighting and bombings throughout the country—with a focus on Aleppo—garnering attention from the United Nations and other heads of state as civilians were killed indiscriminately.
Soundbite: “According to the latest information that we received … military actions in eastern Aleppo are over,” Russia’s U.N. ambassador Vitaly Churkin said. “The Syrian government has re-established control over eastern Aleppo.”

We miss the old Kanye, before the blonde Kanye
What’s up: There’s a lot going on in President-Elect Donald Trump’s transition that deserves attention, but today, instead of focusing on his cabinet appointments or his decision to cancel his meeting about the fate of his business holdings, Trump welcomed a newly blonde Kanye West to Trump Tower in New York City.
Why you care: Kanye is fresh off a stint in the hospital for an apparent breakdown whilst on his Life of Pablo Tour, where he announced that while he didn’t vote, if he had he would’ve voted for Trump. Apparently, the two talked about “life.”
Soundbite: “You take care of yourself,” Trump told Kanye as they said goodbye. “I’ll see you soon. You look good.”

What’s up: Major League Baseball is cracking down on hazing for rookies on professional ball teams, meaning no more forcing the newbies to dress up like Hooters waitresses or Wonder Woman.
