In regards to the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series last season: I think they did it with a little help from the umpires and I honestly believe this. Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred knew baseball was losing a little of its popularity and they needed some stimulus so they told the umpires if there’s any close calls to give them to the Cubs. I don’t know if they’re going to get those calls this season. That is really and truly what I believe.

The pollsters were 100 percent wrong during this last election. Why? Because some people just flat-out lied. They didn’t want to admit they were voting for President Donald Trump. Everyone scrambled trying to figure out what went wrong. What went wrong is people that didn’t know what it was to pinch and make ends meet because they lost their job were all of a sudden facing what a lot of us have been doing for years — putting another pot of beans on the table and cutting down the heat and wearing sweaters in the house. When reality started hitting home in another direction all of a sudden it was time for a change.

Well, I guess all you Republicans that were worried about losing your guns don’t have to worry anymore. They won’t be able to take your guns away. Of course, they never could have without changing the U.S. Constitution but your Medicare’s going to be gone and so is your Social Security, which you might miss even more.

We can use high-tech satellites and tracking devices to watch a man on the other side of the world scratch his head, but we cannot pinpoint where these bogus scam phone calls are coming from. Am I really to believe that the government and intelligence agencies can only detect a “country of origin” for these scammers, and not a specific region, city, or street? Come now, this is the modern era.

I’ve got just one thing to say about all those who keep on complaining about the Illinois State Lottery — losers. Instead of complaining, do the smart thing — stop playing. Put the money you spend on the lottery into the bank and you will be ahead at the end of the year. Gambling — and the lottery is a form of gambling — needs more losers than winners to exist. Smarten up, people.
