Burlington Central High School student Austin Macias was presented with a certificate of achievement by the Central Community Unit School District 301 board for earning Central High’s first state wrestling title.

“Wrestling is a sport that doesn’t get enough recognition,” Central High Principal Chris Testone said. “To accomplish what Austin did is something else.”

The certificate reads: “For outstanding athleticism and sportsmanship in representing Central High School in the Illinois High School Association State Wrestling Meet.”

“I wanted to make my town of Burlington and my school proud,” Macias said.
