Matt Klein is hoping to bring his produce farm stand to Main Street in Burlington this summer after a year’s absence.
Sagging sales caused Klein to drop the Burlington location in 2016, but he said he wants to return after making improvements..
“I certainly would like to be here again. I want to give it another try. I think the key is visibility and access to traffic,” he said.
Klein said he plans to work with a local landowner in hopes of situating his farm stand on property along Main Street and New Plank Road. He believes signage will help draw customers.
“It is a hard thing to catch east-bound traffic because of easements,” Klein said. Kane County prohibits the use of its easements for temporary signage.
The village board was eager to offer support for the venture. If the location can be secured, Klein will operate the stand from mid-July to mid-October.
