Park Forest police said a man in his late teens died early Monday morning following a shooting in the 22100 block of Central Park Avenue, and that a 29-year-old man is in custody.

Police, in a posting on the department’s Facebook page, said the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two adults known to each other and was not a random act. Police said the identity of the victim was not yet being disclosed pending notification of his family.

Police said they responded to a call of shots fired shortly after 4 a.m. Monday and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police said a weapon was recovered at the scene.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and the Illinois State Police crime scene investigation unit are assisting Park Forest officers, the department said.
