Illinois State Police shut down part of the Dan Ryan Expressway northbound Thursday evening for more than two hours after a report of gunfire.
Around 4:10 p.m., police were called out for gunfire on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway near 31st Street, according to a state trooper.
Though no victim had been found, troopers closed the highway between 31st and 35th streets while they investigated. All northbound traffic was directed off at the 35th Street exit.
The lanes were reopened at 6:45 p.m., according to Trooper James Gawel. No suspects had been taken into custody, and no one was reported injured, Gawel said.
