Annual bicycle exchange and sale returns
Park Ridge Friends of the Parks and the Park Ridge Park District will conduct the fourth annual Pedals for the Parks Bike and Trike Exchange, offering residents an opportunity to donate and purchase used bicycles.
Donations will be accepted on April 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at Centennial Aquatic Center, 100 S. Western Ave. Bikes of all sizes and in all conditions will be accepted, according to organizers.
The public sale will take place on April 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maine Park Leisure Center, 2701 W. Sibley Ave. The sale will again coincide with Earth Day celebrations.
Bicycle donors will receive a receipt that can be used for early-bird shopping from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., according to Friends of the Parks.
In the event of rain, the sale will be rescheduled to May 6 at the same location and time, organizers said.
Proceeds from the sale will help support the Friends of the Parks initiative to plant new trees at Park Ridge parks. Bikes not sold will be donated to Working Bikes, a Chicago-based company that repairs old bikes and donates them to people in need around the world, Friends of the Parks said.
