Naperville Sun readers have plenty of opinions when it comes to the news of the day. Here are some of the comments left on stories posted on our website — chicagotribune.com/suburbs/naperville-sun — and on our Facebook page.

In response to the news that repairs to Moser Tower, which contains the Millennium Carillon, will cost anywhere from $1.6 million to $3.8 million:

*Please, not with my tax dollars, can barely afford those. Let the people who wanted it so bad pay for it, or tear it down. City council needs to listen to the residents of Naperville on this issue!

*The city had to bail it out when it was partially built and now they need to bail it out again. If there isn’t enough local private financial support for this eyesore it should be torn down.

*I believe this fits the definition of a money pit. While I would love to have this “landmark” remain in functional existence, the cost to maintain far exceeds its intended purpose. The only way I could see it surviving would be to charge more than $3, and/or hold a benefit event to pay for the work. In no way should our tax dollars be put forth to fund this, again.

*Huge waste of money. Maintenance is too costly now. Just demolish it and restore the grass now instead of waiting.

*There should be no reason this building needs repairs already.

*Think about this. A structure that was completed just 10 years ago is now in need of repairs that will cost more than the originally estimated construction cost. Most structures made of durable materials like steel and concrete are designed for an intended life span of 75 years or more. Who designed this thing?? Who provided the original cost estimate that was exceeded by 140%?!? Who made the decision to leave it exposed to weather when it wasn’t meant to function that way?? The Naperville taxpayers deserve to know these things.

*So there’s all this drama over this “landmark”, but they want to tear down Nichols Library. Which one was built to last? Just sayin ‘

*I never thought this structure added beauty to our community. If they repair the tower, that money needs to come from somewhere….the citizens. My taxes are high enough, thank you.

In response to the story about Corey Walgren, the Naperville North High School student who committed suicide after being confronted by school officials and police, without his parents being present, about a cell phone video he made of a sexual encounter:

*You should never question a child without their parent present. He should have been supervised until a parent arrived. Unacceptable!!! My heart hurts for this family.

*Although it won’t bring their son back; this lawsuit is more than justified. I hope they win. If rules were followed; they must change. A minor should not have to deal with this type of situation on their own. They do not have the necessary life experience or emotional capacity . The parents need to be present.

*I believe it was illegal for the police to interrogate a teen without parents present. Basically the police involved were not following protocols

*This is a tragic situation but, I do not feel the school officials acted inappropriately.

*Multiple people let this kid down from the school to the resource officer to the hospital who let his records out. I hope they win this suit.

*The police and school execs have a tough job. Let them do it.

*In my opinion, the lawsuit should also address why the minor was left unattended after being questioned by the dean and officer. If D203 changes anything as a result of this, which they likely have too much hubris to do, it should be that a child is not left unattended after a meeting of this nature. God forbid the kid have a weapon and his locker and in fight or flight mode opt to shoot up the school.

*How about Corey Walgren threatened to ruin a young girls life by videotaping her w/o her knowledge and showing tape to his friends. Why are people making him a saint?
